Services | Product Design/Technical Product Management (TPM)
GET STARTED!Well-designed and executed products, especially digital products, continue to revolutionize and power our world. Tim Brown, Chairman and co-CEO of IDEO, one of the world’s foremost design firms has said that:
“Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer’s toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology and the requirements for business success.”
Starting with a product vision, driving down to features, ensuring fit, outlining initiatives and epics, and defining objectives, goals, metrics, and success criteria, an experienced product designer and product manager will:
- Help to identify and analyze an unmet need or unrealized opportunity,
- Lead and facilitate idea generation/brainstorming,
- Conceptualize, using key customer personas and day-in-the-life-of (DILO) presentations,
- Research, using interviews, surveys, and observation,
- Synthesize complex, abstract and practical, concrete ideas and factors,
- Create models, wireframes, proofs of concept, and prototypes,
- Identify constraints,
- Test and evaluate/validate the work in progress,
- Help to craft winning stakeholder presentations,
The temptation (and where most products fail) is to jump straight into implementation without understanding enough about the product, who it will benefit, and how it will help. Product design and management will help focus on utility (what the product is and will do), durability (how it will grow and mature), and delight (why customers will love it), considering factors like accessibility to ensure that everyone can use it, environmental impact, possible duplication and differentiation (similar solutions?), total addressable market (TAM), user interface/user experience (UI/UX), product definition, naming (basics are so often overlooked), style guides, and dog-fooding before they become unanticipated and costly or insurmountable issues.
A great product manager or designer brings skills like analytical thinking, aesthetic sensibility, clear, complete, consistent, considerate communication, creative spirit, entrepreneurial drive, technical mastery, problem solving passion, teamwork, time management/discipline, and above all customer empathy to the table.
Let’s expand your design toolkit, augment your product design and management capabilities, and enable innovation, customer delight, and revenue growth!
